A circular cricket ground sits at the heart of the campus with beautiful and unobstructed views of the surrounding hills and landscape. The arrival point in the campus does not capture either the dramatic views to countryside or cricket ground. The northern lands around the cricket ground were chosen to place the new buildings. Two schools are placed radially along the cricket ground to establish visual connection with surrounding countryside. Smaller courtyards exist between the walkways and buildings to create public landscapes for rest and recreation. This design emphasizes not only the vital link between the design and engineering disciplines, but also a link between the site and the surrounding landscape. The shared facilities of the schools are arranged as a series of descending landscaped platforms which conform to the slopes of the site. These non-formal spaces are breakout spaces, F&B facilities and outdoor areas where students can learn through peer to peer discussions and collaborative thinking. The buildings embody innovative ideas for the design of new knowledge environments as well as passive design. A large canopy would also allow a lot of daylight into the building & would become catalyst for cross disciplinary interaction & research. A split level common cafeteria & dining space is located in the space between schools The roof of the dining creates open air dining platforms that cascade down to the lower landscape of the site. The canopy roof is designed as a light weight louvered metal structure that sails over the terrace blocks. The louvers shade expansive terraces in front of the studios and making spaces. These interconnected terraces create a vibrant social space for students & faculties of both schools. The slab block contain support facilities and classrooms ; terraced blocks contain creative and making spaces of each school Terrace spaces are extension of the studios, workshops & classrooms to the outdoors The canopy roof is designed as a light weight louvered metal structure that sails over the terrace blocks. The louvers shade expansive terraces in front of the studios and making spaces A slab block has an independent staircase core. A single flight staircase is the primary circulation spine.
